چکیده

CT : The two-machine flowshop scheduling problem of minimizing makespan is addressed where jobs have rocessing times which are bounded within certain intervals. The probability distributions of job processing hin intervals are not known. The only known information about job processing times is the lower and upper he decision about a solution of the problem, i.e., finding a sequence, has to be made based on these bounds. heuristics using the bounds are proposed, and the proposed heuristics are compared based on randomly data. The computational analysis has shown that three of the proposed heuristics perform well with an overall rror of less than one percent. Moreover, it has also shown that one of the heuristics, which applies Johnson's to the average of the lower and upper bounds, perform as the best with an overall average percentage error of obtained results are also shown to be consistent with the recent results obtained in the literature.

Lotstreaming with Equal Sublots in No-wait Flowshops

We consider the problem of minimizing makespan in a no-wait flow-shop with an arbitrary number of machines. We assume that all sublots have the same number of items. We consider the cases with or without loading times. In both cases we show the existence of a critical machine which never remains idle. Then we get a set of general conditions on the processing times and loading times, which bind ...

Meta heuristic for Minimizing Makespan in a Flow-line Manufacturing Cell with Sequence Dependent Family Setup Times

This paper presents a new mathematical model for the problem of scheduling part families and jobs within each part family in a flow line manufacturing cell where the setup times for each family are sequence dependent and it is desired to minimize the maximum completion time of the last job on the last machine (makespan) while processing parts (jobs) in each family together. Gaining an optimal s...

Minimizing the total tardiness and makespan in an open shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times

We consider an open shop scheduling problem with setup and processing times separately such that not only the setup times are dependent on the machines, but also they are dependent on the sequence of jobs that should be processed on a machine. A novel bi-objective mathematical programming is designed in order to minimize the total tardiness and the makespan. Among several mult...

A Mathematical Model for a Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Fuzzy Processing Times

This paper presents a mathematical model for a flow shop scheduling problem consisting of m machine and n jobs with fuzzy processing times that can be estimated as independent stochastic or fuzzy numbers. In the traditional flow shop scheduling problem, the typical objective is to minimize the makespan). However,, two significant criteria for each schedule in stochastic models are: expectable m...

A Probabilistic Analysis of 2-Machine Flowshops

We study a 2-machine flowshop in which all processing times are independently and identically distributed, with values known to the scheduler. We are able to describe in detail the expected behavior of the flowshop under optimal and under heuristic schedules. Our results suggest that minimizing makespan might be a superfluous objective: Scheduling the jobs randomly requires less information and...
